History of Brgy.Poblacion Norte
The history of the Philippines might be well read
in this particular concept. There is, to start with, a relatively simple
explanation that the word “Barangay” reach a far back into antiquity.
Long before the coming of the Spaniards to the
Philippines, the word barangay was first known among the Filipino people as s
best which was used by the Malays who came by the waves to immigrate to the
Philippines soil.
In the Philippines during the Spanish occupation,
the family was now at those times recognized as the basic unit of society. This
society is made up of a large cohesive group of families and the group of
families comprised a “barangay” by which headed by a teniente.
The Spaniards rule in the Philippines was
soon followed by the Americans. Since the Americans had every economic
incentive for improvement, they changed the barangay into barrios signifying a
political division of a town or municipality. It was only during the martial
law era in our country when the barrios where changed to barangays as mandated
by the Presidential Decree issued by the President of the Philippines. This it
came to pass that an election was hold for all Barangay Captains and officially called “BARANGAY POBLACION NORTE”
which literally means a northern part of the town.
